The states of Pará and Rondônia show enormous potential for environmental compensation payments. The use of these funds could be enabled and strengthened with considerable gains in efficacy if managed through financial mechanisms. A mechanism model was drawn up for these two states by the project “Implementation of Financial Mechanisms for Environmental Compensation in Pará and Rondônia”. The challenge is to provide the necessary support for political decision-making, based on consistent technical intelligence.
